Overview
The role involves providing operational and analytical support on natural resources management, coastal resilience, and climate change for World Bank-financed projects in Bangladesh. The specialist will contribute to the design, implementation, and business development of the natural resource management and climate resilience program.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational and analytical support on natural resources management (forestry, fisheries, biodiversity, ecotourism, nature-based solutions), rural development, and value chain development.
- Support the design and implementation of the World Bank’s natural resource management and climate resilience program in Bangladesh.
- Contribute to business and pipeline development in Bangladesh, integrating ecosystem-based and nature-based approaches.
- Support the implementation of advisory services and analytics activities, including technical inputs and planning.
- Generate and curate knowledge, identifying best practices and recommendations.
- Contribute to policy dialogue with government counterparts and other collaborators.
- Build relationships and facilitate communication with clients, development partners, NGOs, civil society, private sector, and academia.
- Represent ENV in relevant internal and external meetings.
- Be a technical team member on projects or activities.
- Contribute to written products and communications, including briefs, analytical notes, and project documents.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of proven, relevant professional experience in the natural resource management/climate adaptation field.
- Practical experience with rural natural-resource-based livelihoods and associated value chain development including ecosystem-linked value chain and governance, access to finance, and community-based natural resource management.
- International experience is an advantage.
- Experience in developing countries / emerging economies is a strong advantage.
Qualifications
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in natural resources management or economics, fisheries, forestry, or other relevant disciplines.
