Overview

This role supports the implementation of wheat flour fortification in Tajikistan to meet annual targets and advance Sustainable Development Goal 2. The incumbent will coordinate with stakeholders and oversee project implementation.


Key Responsibilities
  • Represent WFP in technical forums with government officials.
  • Support the development of the fortification portfolio implementation plan.
  • Oversee the implementation of the wheat flour fortification project.
  • Lead coordination among WFP technical teams, UN agencies, IFIs, NGOs, development partners, and private sector stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with WFP regional office on capacity strengthening and proposal development.
  • Organize update meetings with WFP regional office colleagues.
  • Serve as WFP’s fortification liaison to the Scaling Up Nutrition platform.
  • Assist with developing learning exchanges.
  • Coordinate with field offices and the Communication, Advocacy, and Marketing unit to develop advocacy and information sharing materials.
  • Participate in meetings and activities related to wheat flour fortification.
  • Update the cost-benefit analysis regarding fortification of diverse foods.
  • Research, develop, and diversify programming through sourcing alternative funding streams.
  • Advise and support on mobilization of WFP resources and capabilities.
  • Hold regular meetings and ensure proper information sharing and communication within the team.
  • Support internal WFP processes and procedures.
  • Support the implementation of the WFP Tajikistan country strategic plan by integrating cross-cutting efforts.
Required Experience
  • At least one year of relevant professional experience in a relevant field with an Advanced University Degree or 3 years of relevant professional experience with a First University Degree in related fields.
  • Experience working with food security and nutrition sectors.
  • Academic and/or professional background in economic research is desired.
  • Experience working in an international organization and/or non-governmental organization is strongly desirable.
  • Experience in the private sector is preferable.
  • Demonstrated understanding of food supply chains and processing; experience with private sector engagement and working in a development setting would be an advantage.
Qualifications

• Advanced University Degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Food technology, Economics or a first University degree with additional years of relevant professional experience and/or training courses.

Proficiency in Russian is desirable.
