Overview
Provides vehicle and material handling equipment maintenance and repair services in support of surface transport activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Services and repairs mission fleet of vehicles/equipment/trailers.
- Diagnoses and rectifies electrical and electronic faults on Light/Heavy Vehicles/Equipment.
- Supports workshop operations by preparing vehicles for field deployment.
- Inspects vehicles and equipment to identify defects.
- Carries out repairs and replacement of vehicle components.
- Conducts vehicle inspections on UN-owned vehicles.
- Produces reports to document servicing and repairs.
- Participates in recovering breakdown vehicles.
- Checks and tests wiring and parts of older vehicles.
- Assists in identification of required parts.
- Services, resets and maintains electronic vehicle monitoring systems.
- Ensures safety at the workplace.
- Performs any other tasks as required.
Required Experience
- At least three (03) years of progressively responsible experience in the automotive field, vehicle repair, and maintenance are required.
- Knowledge of guidelines and procedures relating to the safe operation of workshop equipment is required.
- Experience in using spare parts catalogs, picking up the part numbers, and placing spare parts orders is desirable.
- Experience as an auto mechanic is desirable.
- Experience working in international organizations is desirable.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid national driving license is required.
- A technical or vocational certificate in vehicle electrical/ electronical systems is required.
- A relevant training in heavy duty vehicle or equipment is desirable.
