Overview
Responsible for the overall maintenance and repairs of the UNHQ vehicles fleet, and provides assistance with operations management of the Local Transportation Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Arranges for vehicle inspections to determine repair methods and ensures vehicles operate in peak condition.
- Performs preventive maintenance and light vehicle repairs on-site.
- Verifies invoices for maintenance and repair services.
- Reviews vehicle maintenance database system for accuracy.
- Maintains fleet monitoring and on-line fleet management systems.
- Maintains electronic inventory of garage stock and initiates procurement for critical items.
- Dispatches drivers and reviews database logs for assignment completion.
- Identifies vehicles for varied assignments.
- Conducts market research and prepares specifications for procurement exercises.
- Acts as a focal point for Umoja vehicles' records and equipment updates.
- Assists with vehicles replacement programme.
- Conducts market research for fleet management technologies and acts as a focal point for their implementation.
- Supports the team with ad-hoc driving assignments when necessary.
- Performs supervisory functions in the absence of the Foreperson.
Required Experience
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in transportation management including vehicle fleet management and maintenance is required.
- Experience in research and development of solutions for vehicles and transportation services, including identification of requirements, conducting technical evaluation and contract management is desirable.
- Experience with implementation of rules, regulations, and development of operating manuals/SOPs for local transportation operations is desirable.
- Experience working in an international, governmental or non-governmental organization is desirable.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Valid Commercial Driver's license (CDL) is required.
