Overview

The Finance Assistant will provide procedural and technical support in finance and budget to ensure compliance with WFP financial policies, rules, and regulations. The role involves managing financial transactions, processing payments, and financial reporting activities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in providing procedural and technical support to staff within the areas of finance and budget.
  • Monitor monthly expenditure forecasts and provide expenditure reports.
  • Monitor the sub-imprest bank and petty cash accounts regularly.
  • Verify vendor claims, advances and other receivables and observe appropriate procurement procedures.
  • Assist in compiling information from various sources to prepare reports relating to budgets, accounting, finance and statistics.
  • Retrieve, format and validate information from financial information systems and follow up corrective actions.
  • Perform administrative duties related to the monitoring and recording of fixed assets, spend on fuel and spare parts for vehicles and generators.
  • Maintain the web-based register for all invoices and payment transfers and record paperwork.
  • Monitor and record all expenses in line with the approved budget.
  • Responsible for all the invoices in the Invoice Tracking System.
Required Experience

A minimum of five years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or Audit.

Qualifications

Completion of secondary school education. Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting or Business Administration is desirable.
