Overview
The Financial Sector Specialist will support the World Bank's work program in China, focusing on enhancing the stability, efficiency, and developmental impact of the Chinese financial sector through analytical and operational projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of knowledge products and parts of lending operations.
- Compile and analyze data for monitoring the Chinese financial sector and macro-financial issues.
- Conduct research and analysis in areas such as financial institution safety and soundness, regulatory reforms, market development, climate finance, and climate risk assessments.
- Draft Policy and Technical Notes and contribute to other World Bank products.
- Contribute to the preparation and implementation support of lending operations.
- Participate in discussions and dissemination of policy analysis and recommendations.
- Maintain liaison with key government counterparts.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of directly relevant experience, or related experience, especially in development policy research and financial sector analysis.
- Prior experience in a multilateral development bank would be a plus.
- Solid knowledge and experience of the Chinese financial sector including familiarity with financial sector data across different market segments and good knowledge of key government counterparts, financial institutions, and other market players.
- Experience working with data and strong skills in quantitative analysis, including the implementation of financial sector diagnostic tools.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in international development, public policy, finance, economics or equivalent.
