Overview
The intern will carry out tasks related to communications and advocacy under the supervision of the RCO Head of Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Research topics and issues, and produce draft documents on these
- Monitor media and prepare draft versions of media clippings or media monitoring reports
- Support in the management and monitoring of social media
- Provide clerical support, e.g. management of lists or databases
- Assist drafting of speeches and talking points
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), or
- Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
- Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Graduate or postgraduate studies in Communication, Journalism, Marketing or a similar relevant area is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to provide continuous and accurate data input, is required.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools and other communications tools is required.
