Overview
The role involves assisting WFP staff in intergovernmental fora, supporting event planning and execution, and monitoring issues relevant to WFP. The purpose is to galvanize government partners and mobilize attention towards a world without hunger.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist WFP staff members with activities related to General Assembly, Special Sessions, ECOSOC, and Security Council, including preparatory meetings and preparing NFRs on key points and outcomes.
- Attend in a support role for Country-Specific or Regional Taskforces, UNDG, UN Reform, and Development Programming Tools, take notes, report as necessary, and flag issues of consequence to WFP.
- Attend in a support role for thematic and cross-cutting issues such as SDGs, Climate Change, HIV/AIDS, Nutrition, Emergency Preparedness, Humanitarian/Development Funding and Financing, and Gender, take notes, report as necessary, and flag issues of consequence to WFP.
- Support the planning and execution of events hosted by WFP in inter-governmental and inter-agency fora.
- Monitor issues of relevance to WFP, contribute to data analysis, and produce quick guides and other communication products.
Required Experience
- Experience working with the UN system including the UN Secretariat, Agencies, Funds, and Programmes is preferred.
- Experience working and/or studying in a country other than the one in which you reside.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme from a recognized university OR recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognized university;
- University course attendance in the past 12 months.
