Overview
Individual contractor to perform tasks of an Associate Finance and Budget Officer, ensuring uninterrupted budget administration and review during the recruitment process for the permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare allotments and release funds.
- Monitor budget implementation and recommend fund reallocation.
- Enter and review financial transactions in Umoja (UE2 and ECC).
- Ensure accuracy of expenditures and raise adjustments if necessary.
- Manage open commitments and clear open items.
- Administer and monitor extra-budgetary resources.
- Prepare draft financial reports.
- Analyze budget vs. actual expenditure variances.
- Monitor financial delivery and provide recommendations.
- Support and follow up on co-financing reports.
- Perform other related duties.
Required Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years progressively responsible experience in finance, budget, administration, business administration or related areas is required.
- Work experience with financial rules and regulations within UNEP, particularly financial management rules is required.
- Experience in using UNEP Enterprise Resources Planning systems (UMOJA) in a project context is required.
- Working knowledge of GEF projects is desirable.
- Working experience within the Mediterranean region is desirable.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, finance, or related field is required.
