Overview
To support the mainstreaming and monitoring of environmental and social safeguards across WFP programme activities and ensure effective application of risk mitigation measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Support compliance with environmental and social safeguard requirements.
- Coordinate application of risk screening tools and provide technical guidance.
- Monitor implementation of mitigation measures and ensure follow-up.
- Support management of environmental-related feedback and complaints.
- Integrate environmental safeguards into programme design, monitoring, and reporting.
- Assist in delivering awareness sessions and capacity-building activities.
- Facilitate ESSFT meetings.
- Provide inputs on environmental and social safeguard implementation for proposals, reports, and corporate reporting.
- Document and share best practices and lessons learned.
Required Experience
- Typically, 4 or more years of progressively responsible experience in environmental safeguards, environmental management, climate-related programming, or related fields.
- Experience working with environmental safeguard systems (e.g., WFP ESSF, IFI safeguards, or environmental compliance frameworks) is an asset.
- Experience engaging with non-governmental organization, international organizations, community groups and experience working in the implementation of the rural infrastructure and livelihood programme activities is desirable.
Qualifications
University degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or another related field.
