Overview

Provide technical guidance to implement the UNICEF Gender Equality Action Plan and the Disability Inclusion Policy and Strategy, ensuring integration of gender equality and disability inclusion approaches into strategies and results across all programs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the UNICEF Somalia Gender Equality Action Plan 2026-2029, the UNICEF Disability Inclusion Policy and Strategy (DIPAS) 2022-2030, and the gender equality and disability inclusion workplans for 2025 and 2026.
  • Enhance mainstreaming of gender equality and disability inclusion indicators in all objective areas.
  • Support coordination across programme sections to ensure alignment and integration of gender and disability priorities.
  • Work with PME to sharpen the CO approach to monitoring and evaluation of gender equality and disability inclusion.
  • Coordinate and support specific gender equality and disability inclusion analyses.
  • Strengthen the strategy aimed at changing social norms through gender-transformative and disability inclusive approaches.
  • Coordinate the Gender Equality and Disability Inclusion Task Forces within the office.
  • Foster cooperation and partnership with gender equality and disability inclusion multi-agency working groups, and agencies.
  • Design and deliver gender equality and disability inclusion trainings for internal and external capacity building.
Required Experience
  • At least 5 years relevant experience integrating gender equality and disability inclusion in humanitarian or emergency settings, or similar contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience applying gender-transformative and responsive approaches, disability inclusive programme design, or intersectional analysis.
  • Experience conducting or commissioning gender or disability assessments, safeguarding reviews, or barrier analysis is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Results-Based Management, indicator frameworks, or humanitarian monitoring systems preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work respectfully with diverse communities and partners.
  • Ability to work and adapt effectively in a multicultural team and under limited supervision.
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, among others), Teams, email, and internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; ability to use online reporting or data tools is an asset.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision and with tight deadlines.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with civil society organizations working to advance gender equality or disability inclusion in Somalia and basic understanding of UNICEF programming approaches.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field. specialization in results-based monitoring, gender-based violence risk mitigation, and disability and social inclusion or other related field.
