Overview

This internship supports the Strengthening Crime Prevention Criminal Justice Programme and the project on Promoting Accountability, Integrity and Transparency in Justice. The intern will provide administrative and operational assistance to ensure the effective implementation of programme activities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in collecting information for various reports, speaking notes, background documents, etc.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on issues related to crime prevention and criminal justice, transnational organized crime, countering corruption, etc.
  • Contribute to the preparation of background documents, presentations, talking points, and speeches for Programme activities.
  • Develop briefing materials and other relevant documentation for meetings and events involving stakeholders and partners, including other UN agencies.
  • Support the creation, review, and updating of social media content to enhance the visibility of the Programme's activities and outcomes.
  • Draft web stories and press releases
  • Participate in the planning and execution of activities, including meetings, workshops, conferences, and training sessions.
  • Draft detailed reports, minutes, and summaries for UNODC country Office events, meetings.
  • Assist in administrative tasks, such as drafting letters, terms of reference and other relevant documentation.
  • Perform additional tasks as required
Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views
Other Details
Languages Required
• Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
