Overview
The consultant will prepare UNICEF Central African Republic’s report to the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) Pre-Sessional Working Group. This involves reviewing state party reports, conducting stakeholder consultations, drafting the UNICEF submission, and developing questions and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Review the State Party report and related national documentation.
- Identify informational gaps and analyze progress, constraints, and challenges affecting children's rights.
- Support stakeholder consultations with key partners.
- Draft the UNICEF submission to the Committee on the Rights of the Child in English, not exceeding 15000 words.
- Develop proposed questions for the Committee’s List of Issues and actionable recommendations.
- Revise and finalize the submission based on internal feedback.
- Remain available to support follow-up exchanges with UNICEF.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in child rights, human rights reporting, or policy analysis related to international human rights mechanisms.
- Demonstrated experience drafting reports or submissions to international human rights mechanisms (e.g. CRC, UPR, treaty bodies).
- Experience working with UN agencies, governments and civil society organizations in consultative processes.
Qualifications
- An advanced degree in international law, social sciences, public policy, or another protection-related field.
- A thorough understanding of relevant international and regional child protection instruments including the Convention on the Rights of the Child and General Comments on its implementation.
