Overview

Scientist to conduct research in advanced Artificial Intelligence and Information Fusion (AI2F) applied to Seabed-to-Space Situational Awareness (S3A). The role supports the development of Maritime Situational Awareness (MSA) and S3A methodologies and prototypes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in advanced Data Fusion and Tracking techniques.
  • Support investigation and development of AI2F research for S3A.
  • Execute research activities on Machine Learning, Optimization, Prediction, and Information Fusion.
  • Develop prototypes for monitoring and protecting Critical Undersea Infrastructures (CUIs).
  • Publish results internally and externally.
  • Support sea-going experiments with data collection, tracking, and fusion.
  • Support organization of NATO workshops and conferences.
  • Establish Multi-National Projects and develop proposals for external funding.
  • Work closely with projects outside of the DKOE Programme.
Required Experience
  • Proven work experience as a scientist in Artificial Intelligence and Information and Data Fusion.
  • Expertise in statistical analysis.
  • Expertise in signal and data processing.
  • Proven ability to develop algorithms in MATLAB, Python, or other scientific programming languages.
  • Experience in processing and fusing surveillance data from heterogeneous sensors.
Qualifications
  • MSc degree in engineering, mathematics, scientific, or related field and at least 5 years post-MSc experience as Scientist or Engineer with a specific focus on Artificial Intelligence and Information Fusion. OR
  • PhD degree in engineering, mathematics, scientific, or related field and at least 2 years post-PhD experience as Scientist or Engineer with a specific focus on Artificial Intelligence and Information Fusion.
Other Details
Languages Required
• A thorough knowledge of one of the two NATO languages, both written and spoken, is essential.
Languages Preferred
• Some knowledge of the other NATO language is desirable.
Contract Duration
• Three years’ definite duration contract which may be renewed for subsequent periods.
Work Modality
• The duties are performed in an office, laboratory, workshop environment or on-board Centre ships.
Remuneration
• 5,879.80 Euro (EUR) Monthly
