Overview
Consultant to provide assistance to specific countries in implementing their compliance action plans under the Basel Convention, focusing on legal and institutional frameworks to ensure reporting obligations are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide substantive legal and policy inputs to assessment reports on legal and institutional frameworks.
- Provide substantive legal and policy inputs to programmes, presentations, and supporting materials for inception meetings.
- Provide substantive legal and policy inputs to the preparation of draft legal and institutional mechanisms/measures.
- Provide substantive legal and policy inputs to programmes, presentations, and supporting materials for awareness-raising and training workshops.
- Provide substantive legal and policy inputs to final draft legal and institutional mechanisms/measures, incorporating stakeholder feedback.
Required Experience
- At least seven years’ work experience in the field of environmental law is required.
- Demonstrable experience with the implementation and enforcement of multilateral environmental agreements, including the Basel Convention, is desirable.
Qualifications
An advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in law or environmental sciences or engineering is required. A first-level degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
