Overview

The Programme Policy Officer will lead the development, coordination, and implementation of integrated, nutrition-sensitive interventions that promote resilient livelihoods, inclusive food systems, and safety nets in support of national policies and programmes, while ensuring alignment with WFP’s strategic plan.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic, technical and operational guidance to the Resilience, School Feeding and Nutrition teams.
  • Provide technical advice or mobilise technical expertise on programme and policy issues.
  • Lead coordination at different levels to enable the design and implementation of programme activities.
  • Enhance WFP’s positioning as a recognized and trusted partner in relevant multi-stakeholder forums.
  • Build strategic partnerships with relevant government institutions.
  • Establish and maintain operational and strategic partnerships with external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to resources mobilisation efforts.
  • Ensure the best use of financial resources assigned to the programme activities.
  • Manage the preparation and dissemination of timely analytical and critical reports, publications, and a variety of information products or proposals.
  • Contribute to external and internal reporting exercises.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of staff.
  • Perform other tasks as needed.
Required Experience
  • At least five (5) years of progressive relevant experience in leading programmes that promote food and nutrition security;
  • Experience leading programmes that promote food and nutrition security
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in relevant programmatic areas (nutrition, climate resilience, school feeding, food systems);
  • Has led a programme team or a component of a country office programme portfolio.
  • Has engaged in policy discussions and provided input into policy decisions.
Qualifications

Advanced University degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Rural Development, Environmental Sciences, Nutrition, International Affairs, Economics, Agriculture, or other relevant fields, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.

Fluency in both oral and written communication in both English and Portuguese.
Languages Preferred
Capacity in at least one local language desirable.
