Overview
Drives various vehicle types for the transport of authorized personnel and mission cargo between locations. Responsible for daily vehicle maintenance and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Makes deliveries of parcels, documents, and other items between UNFICYP offices, local authorities, embassies, and partner entities.
- Makes minor purchases and collects urgent items from local suppliers as requested.
- Collects goods from customs in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Drives UNFICYP vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel and mission cargo between UNPA, the buffer zone, airports, sectors, and other mission locations.
- Collects and delivers official mail, documents, and other mission-related materials.
- Meets official personnel at the airport and other arrival points as required.
- Deals effectively and tactfully with mission personnel, officials, and visitors.
- Takes care of daily maintenance of assigned vehicles, including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, performing minor repairs, arranging maintenance, and ensuring vehicle cleanliness.
- Performs VIP and standby driving duties in support of operational requirements.
- Assists the Transport Workshop in preparing vehicles for field trips, including changing wheels, cleaning air filters, and conducting general checks.
- Logs fuel consumption, maintenance, and other relevant vehicle data.
- Ensures proper reporting and procedures in case of accidents, in accordance with UN rules.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in driver services is required.
- Experience driving various vehicle types (light passenger vehicles, sedans, SUVs, ambulances, pickup trucks, cargo and passenger vans) is required.
- A safe driving record is required.
- Experience in an international organization or field mission is desirable.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of recognized driver training and possession of a valid national driver’s license is required.
- A valid Category B driving license is required.
