Overview

The Assistant Political Affairs Officer will support the Political Affairs Service in monitoring political developments and assisting senior officers with various reporting and communication tasks.


Key Responsibilities
  • Receives and summarizes information from various sources, maintaining knowledge of political issues.
  • Assists senior officers with drafting correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and talking points.
  • Prepares summaries of articles and drafts correspondence and report sections.
  • Monitors political, socio-economic, and other relevant developments.
  • Supports preparation for meetings, events, and field visits.
  • Provides input into political, humanitarian, and economic efforts and programmes.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Required Experience

A minimum of one to two years of progressively responsible experience in political science, international relations, law, disarmament, security, development management, conflict resolution or related area is required. Previous/current involvement in and/or provision of support to dialogue and/or reconciliation processes in Libya is required. Experience of working in a United Nations common system field operation - or similar international organization or non-governmental organization - is desirable.

Qualifications

A first-level university degree in Political Science, Management or Development, or related field is required. Professional training in the areas of planning, monitoring and evaluation, facilitation and /or coordination is desirable.
