Overview

Provides technical support for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of social policy programming and related advocacy. Focuses on improving public policies to reduce child poverty, social protection coverage, public investments for children, and governance for social services.


Key Responsibilities
  • Supports the collection, analysis, and presentation of data on child poverty and vulnerability.
  • Analyzes macroeconomic context and its impact on social development and children.
  • Supports the development of social protection policies, legislation, and programmes.
  • Promotes strengthening of integrated social protection systems.
  • Undertakes budget analysis to inform advocacy and technical assistance for equitable allocations for children.
  • Supports the identification of policy options for improved domestic financing of child-sensitive social protection.
  • Collaborates with authorities to improve policies, planning, budgeting, consultation, and accountability processes for child-focused social services.
  • Supports the use of data and evidence on the situation of children for social policy programming.
  • Establishes partnerships with various stakeholders to support the Convention of the Rights of the Child and UN agendas.
  • Manages and coordinates technical support around child poverty, social protection, public finance, and governance.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of five years of relevant professional work experience in social policy, or public finances and/or social protection is required.
  • Experience in managing or conducting complex evidence generation and evidence-based advocacy and technical assistance actions is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing people/teams and cross-sectoral/interdivisional collaborations is desirable.
  • International experience working in a development cooperation is considered as a strong asset.
  • Background and/or familiarity with emergency/emergency preparedness is considered an asset.
Qualifications

An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, sciences, or another relevant technical field.

Fluency in French and Arabic is required. Working knowledge of English required.
