Overview
The Local Security Associate provides technical, operational, and administrative assistance to the supervisor in ensuring the safety and security of personnel and safeguarding UNICEF premises, assets, and resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the supervisor in planning functions related to safety and security.
- Assist in collecting information for the UN Country Security Plan, MOSS, and RSM.
- Assist in developing routine security documentation, including contingency plans.
- Assist in drafting routine security reports.
- Monitor the local security situation and provide updates to the supervisor.
- Assist in security activities supporting UNICEF staff, premises, and operations.
- Provide technical support to contracted security providers.
- Share safety and security information with UNICEF personnel.
- Support the establishment and testing of Communications/Warden Systems.
- Support security-related contingency exercises.
- Conduct physical security surveys of international personnel residences.
- Maintain liaison with host government counterparts and UN security counterparts.
- Coordinate with UNDSS for mandatory security training.
- Develop and conduct familiarization sessions for contracted security guards.
- Develop and conduct training sessions for drivers on security situations.
- Assist in providing security-related training for UNICEF personnel.
Required Experience
At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in a security related environment is required.
Qualifications
Completion of secondary education is required, supplemented by relevant technical/military/police courses and/or university courses in a relevant discipline.
