Overview

The Industrial Development Expert will provide technical support for the execution of projects and programmes related to industrial decarbonization and climate action, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of assigned inputs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Execute and monitor projects/programme implementation activities and services.
  • Coordinate the execution of the project, including supervising consultants and preparing necessary inputs.
  • Monitor progress and expenditures, preparing financial forecasts and budget revisions.
  • Participate in oversight meetings and assist the Evaluation Group.
  • Coordinate project communication and knowledge management activities.
  • Manage external relations by maintaining close relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Support advocacy, communication and global forum activities.
  • Contribute to planning funds mobilization strategies and cooperate with other units in mobilizing funds.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience with a first-level university degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience with an advanced university degree.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience with a Doctorate.
  • Progressively responsible working experience, including some at the international level, in project execution or coordination, particularly in the areas of energy efficiency, industrial decarbonization, climate change mitigation.
  • Experience evaluating needs, conditions and problems in developing countries, and in technical cooperation projects in emerging markets and developing economies.
  • Experience of at least three (3) years working on the topics of decarbonization of heavy emitting industries such as steel, cement and others.
Qualifications
  • A first‑level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in economics, environmental science, international relations, engineering or in a closely related field with specialization in Industrial Decarbonization or any relevant discipline is required.
  • Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in economics, environmental science, international relations, engineering or in a closely related field with specialization in Industrial Decarbonization or a Doctorate in the same fields are accepted.

• Fluency in written and oral English is required.
Languages Preferred
• Fluency or working knowledge of another official language of the United Nations is desirable.
