Overview
The Communication Officer (Digital and Content Creation) role focuses on managing UNICEF's social media and website, creating digital content, and analyzing performance to increase visibility and brand recognition in Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities
- Ideating, crafting, and publishing social media copy and content.
- Managing, writing, and curating content for UNICEF Malaysia's official website.
- Updating the UNICEF Malaysia website by uploading content, designing new landing pages, and advising on information presentation.
- Responding to comments, private messages, and emails on social media and the web.
- Advising on social media/digital content best practices and trends.
- Assisting in mentoring social media interns, freelancers, and volunteers.
- Gathering social media analytics and researching changes in the digital landscape.
- Providing monthly updates on social media & website content performance and follower growth.
- Supporting the use of data to drive content and platform strategy.
- Brainstorming new ways to communicate advocacy messages via digital platforms.
- Writing and editing human interest stories, press releases, talking points, articles, scripts, and other written materials.
- Assisting in producing and designing content for social media such as factographs and infographics.
- Creating simple video content such as soundbites, event shorts, social media stories, and reels.
- Assisting with the management of videographers and agencies.
- Adapting multimedia assets from HQ, Regional Office, or other UNICEF offices for a local audience.
- Championing the integrity of UNICEF's public-facing digital platforms.
- Providing social media support to office initiatives and campaigns.
- Assisting in events, launches, campaigns, and other key communication activities from a digital content perspective.
- Assisting in providing digital content expertise to various office initiatives.
Required Experience
- A minimum of one year of professional experience relevant to communication, social media, or digital content, at the national level is required.
- Experience in the development and implementation of digital communication and content strategy is required.
- Proficiency in using computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, email/internet, other IT applications), including design software and applications such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media content creation tools (Instagram, Facebook) is required.
- Knowledge in Google Analytics, native social media analytics is required.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
Qualifications
A university degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Digital Marketing or similar.
