Overview

Junior Economists will contribute to empirical and policy-oriented work on topics related to productivity, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The role involves conducting quantitative analysis, research, drafting policy documents, and liaising with partner organisations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to empirical and policy-oriented work on industrial policies, industrial ecosystems, firm-level analysis, competition, and entrepreneurship.
  • Carry out empirical analyses based on large-scale firm-level data for policy evaluation.
  • Contribute to the development of data infrastructure for analysing firm-related trends.
  • Support the updating of statistical routines and contribute to the conception and production of indicators.
  • Undertake research and contribute to the production of policy papers, working papers, and policy briefs.
  • Provide assistance in the planning and co-ordination of activities, including meetings and workshops.
  • Liaise with partner organisations and maintain working relationships with officials and the research community.
  • Provide support to users of databases developed within the Division.
Required Experience
  • At least two years’ relevant experience of applied research and in economic and policy analysis on issues related to industrial policy, industrial ecosystems, economic security, global value chains, labour and energy productivity, innovation, technology adoption, entrepreneurship, business dynamics or competition.
  • Proven experience in the field of firm-level empirical analysis.
  • Experience with large administrative databases and/or with large multi-dimensional industry databases (such as global Input-Output tables) would be an asset.
  • Experience of formulating clear policy recommendations and briefing notes for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Professional experience explaining economic issues and analysis to experts and lay audiences alike.
Qualifications
  • An advanced university degree in economics, econometrics or another relevant field of study, with a strong foundation in quantitative analysis and statistics.
  • A Ph.D. degree in economics or related fields would be an advantage.

Languages Required
• Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and knowledge of the other, with a commitment to reach a good working level.

Remuneration
• Monthly salary starts at 6 008 EUR, plus allowances based on eligibility, exempt of French income tax.
