Overview
The Statistics intern will support the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) in various thematic areas, contributing to projects involving geospatial data collection, analysis, integration, and visualization.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct geospatial research and draft written contributions for reports, technical papers, and other documentation.
- Contribute and prepare reports, analysis, policy briefs, and other documents related to geospatial information management, capacities and capabilities.
- Draft inputs for a wide range of documents/reports, briefings/debriefings, correspondence, etc.
- Produce materials for outreach, including maps, infographics, and social media content.
- Contribute to data storytelling and visualization, including the creation of maps, dashboards, and supporting graphics.
- Support the design, organization, and management of geospatial data compilation and dissemination.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and management of geospatial information systems and databases.
- Support geospatial and statistical data integration workflows, including collection, cleaning, validation, analysis, and visualization.
- Assist in maintaining geospatial databases and dashboards, ensuring data accuracy and usability.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent).
- Have good knowledge of standard software application, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams.
