Overview
The Geospatial Information Intern will support the United Nations Statistics Division's work across various thematic areas, contributing to projects involving geospatial data collection, analysis, integration, and visualization.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct geospatial research and draft written contributions for reports, technical papers, and other documentation;
- Contribute and prepare reports, analysis, policy briefs, and other documents related to geospatial information management, capacities and capabilities;
- Drafts inputs for a wide range of documents/reports, briefings/debriefings, correspondence, etc;
- Produce materials for outreach, including maps, infographics, and social media content;
- Contribute to data storytelling and visualization, including the creation of maps, dashboards, and supporting graphics;
- Support the design, organization, and management of geospatial data compilation and dissemination;
- Assist in the development, implementation, and management of geospatial information systems and databases;
- Support geospatial and statistical data integration workflows, including collection, cleaning, validation, analysis, and visualization;
- Assist in maintaining geospatial databases and dashboards, ensuring data accuracy and usability;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work-experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Qualifications
- be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent);
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD. Programme.
- Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams.
