Overview
The WASH Officer provides technical, operational, and administrative assistance for WASH programming, supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of WASH output results.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and analyze WASH trends.
- Prepare technical reports and programme documentation.
- Assist in developing WASH strategies and outcome/output results.
- Execute programme transactions and manage documentation.
- Monitor programme implementation and report on issues.
- Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises.
- Report on the use of programme resources.
- Prepare inputs for programme and donor reporting.
- Undertake field visits and surveys.
- Provide technical and operational support to partners.
- Draft inputs for WASH emergency preparedness.
- Support emergency response and early recovery.
- Build and sustain partnerships with government and stakeholders.
- Draft communication materials for WASH advocacy.
- Participate in inter-agency meetings on WASH programming.
- Research potential donors and prepare resource mobilization materials.
- Assist in developing, implementing, monitoring, and documenting WASH action research and innovation.
- Assist in preparing learning/knowledge products.
- Assist in creating and delivering learning opportunities for UNICEF WASH staff.
- Participate as a resource person in capacity building initiatives.
Required Experience
- A minimum of one year of professional experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries.
- A good understanding of national government WASH related policies plans and strategies, and institutional arrangements.
- Knowledge of latest guidance and best practices for WASH programming in the Pacific context especially WASH in health care facilities and WASH in schools is highly desirable.
Qualifications
- A university degree (Bachelors) in one of the following fields: public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering, or another relevant technical field.
- Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree are a strong asset.
