Overview

The Associate Special Assistant to the Registrar will support the Senior Special Assistant in ensuring the Registrar is fully briefed for engagements and in coordinating the Registry's divisions and Legal Office.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Senior Special Assistant in ensuring the Registrar is fully briefed for all relevant internal and external engagements.
  • Attend and take record of the Registrar’s recurring internal meetings.
  • Support the Senior Special Assistant in the effective coordination of the three Divisions and Registry Legal Office.
  • Draft and coordinate preparatory material for the Registrar’s internal and external engagements.
  • Attend and take record of relevant internal and external meetings attended by the Registrar, the Chief of Office and/or the Senior Special Assistant.
  • Ensure management and comprehensive dissemination of the Registry’s information.
  • Draft speeches, articles, internal memoranda, letters etc. for the Registrar.
  • Draft various Registry-wide or Court-wide reports and documents.
  • Participate in inter-organ working groups and any other relevant meetings.
  • Maintain regular contact with the Offices of the Directors of the Registry Divisions and relevant Sections.
  • Attend meetings of the Assembly of States Parties and its subsidiary bodies as required.
Required Experience

A minimum of two years (four years with first level university degree) of relevant work experience in areas in administration and business management, judicial services and/or external relations. Knowledge of legal texts and practice of the Court, as well of other international or regional courts/ tribunals and the United Nations.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree in international relations and politics, and/or administration and business management, and/or international law with specialisation in international criminal law or international human rights law or international humanitarian law; or other related areas is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of experience is accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Languages Required
Proficiency in either of the working languages of the Court (English and French) is required.
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of the other working language is desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) would be considered an asset.
