Overview

The Senior Project Manager will lead the implementation of UN Women's Women Lead Peace project in northern Mozambique, focusing on strengthening community resilience and women's leadership in peacebuilding and recovery efforts.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead project implementation at the provincial level, ensuring alignment with UN Women priorities and work plans.
  • Coordinate and oversee project interventions in gender equality, humanitarian response, recovery, and women's empowerment.
  • Maintain communication with implementing partners, responsible parties, and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and operational support to partners.
  • Serve as the UN Women focal point for programme implementation in assigned provinces.
  • Follow up with national experts, consultants, and organizations, reviewing deliverables and monitoring progress.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for project activities.
  • Conduct systematic monitoring and reporting on project implementation.
  • Contribute to quarterly/annual progress and financial reports.
  • Provide inputs to donor reports and narrative progress updates.
  • Maintain communication with beneficiaries, consultants, and partners to monitor project implementation.
  • Synthesize and document project implementation, success stories, and lessons learned.
  • Support field research in gender equality, humanitarian action, and women's empowerment.
  • Provide inputs to building partnerships and resource mobilization.
  • Contribute to and participate in project assessments/evaluations.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the donor, providing updates and responding to requests.
  • Ensure continuous coordination among project partners, government institutions, and stakeholders.
  • Strengthen collaboration with local authorities, civil society organizations, and community actors.
  • Provide inputs to partnership development and resource mobilization efforts.
  • Promote coordination and complementarity between the UN Women programme and other initiatives.
  • Develop project knowledge products such as briefs, articles, and booklets.
Required Experience
  • At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience at the national or provincial level in managing complex and multi-component programme interventions in crisis/conflict-affected areas with national/provincial and district partners, preferably related to a thematic area.
  • At least 7 years of experience specifically in Women, Peace & Security, Disaster Risk Reduction, humanitarian coordination, or related thematic areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, coordination with government and humanitarian partners, monitoring & evaluation, and donor reporting.
  • Significant experience managing complex, multi-component programmes in humanitarian, conflict, or crisis-affected settings.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Rural development, Economics, Business Administration, Development studies, International Relations, Gender and Human rights-related disciplines, Project management and Social Sciences.
  • A project management certification would be an added advantage.

Remuneration
The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities, and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health, and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service. Furthermore, in non-family duty stations that belong to hardship categories D or E, as classified by the ICSC, a Well-Being Differential (WBD) will be provided monthly.
