Overview
The position holder will be responsible for overseeing construction and rehabilitation activities in schools, conducting needs assessments, preparing Bills of Quantities, and supervising infrastructure-related activities to ensure quality standards and timelines are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical assessments of construction and rehabilitation needs.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
- Support the procurement process, including the review and selection of supplier bids.
- Supervise and monitor all infrastructure-related activities.
- Support the formal handover of completed works.
- Ensure the integration of aspects related to gender, child protection, Person with Disability, environment, and other crosscutting issues.
- Report weekly written and daily updates to line manager.
- Work with other team members to ensure integration and complementary of different sectors.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in construction.
- Practical knowledge in terms of masonry, plumbing, carpentry, and pumping system.
- Knowledge of using Auto cad and Archie cad.
- Knowledge of preparation of estimates/BOQ.
- Planning and organization skills.
- Ability to listen and adapt.
- Community mobilization skills.
- Computer literate, knowledge of Excel, Word, and power point.
- Previous experience working with INGOs and familiarity with their procedures and policies is preferred.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
