Overview
The Associate Investment Officer/Investment Officer will lead the implementation of advisory mandates for public-private partnerships, primarily in infrastructure and social sectors in Brazil, aiming to maximize IFC's impact and contribute to regional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of advisory mandates, including report preparation, client interaction, financial modeling, drafting bidding Terms of Reference, and consultant supervision.
- Assist with marketing activities, develop new client contacts, and lead proposal preparation and negotiation for new projects.
- Develop a thorough understanding of Brazil's infrastructure sectors and business environment.
- Lead multiple mandates simultaneously with different project teams and oversee less experienced staff.
- Design Terms of Reference for specialized consultants, manage their selection and supervision.
- Lead technical, legal, regulatory, financial, and commercial assessments of advisory transactions and project structure design.
- Develop complex financial models for PPP projects and oversee junior staff in their production.
- Manage the drafting and negotiation of contractual and bidding documents.
- Lead the marketing of transactions to potential private sector investors.
- Manage competitive tender processes and finalization of contractual agreements.
- Coordinate with social, environmental, and investment colleagues.
- Develop reports for Senior Management upon request.
Required Experience
- At least 4-8 years experience in business consulting, project finance, investment banking and/or infrastructure economics.
- Good knowledge, networks and credibility within the business and governmental communities, especially in Brazil.
- Deep understanding of the infrastructure business and experience in working with different infrastructure sub-sectors.
- Understanding of public-private partnerships (PPPs) and different structures for engaging the private participation in the delivery of infrastructure services.
- Strong track record of contractual and/or financial closings of infrastructure transactions.
- Experience in dealing with government clients, investors and multiple stakeholders of infrastructure projects.
- Experience in successfully managing diverse project teams in multiple transactions.
- Strong financial, analytical and modeling skills.
- Sound business judgment.
- Ability to find creative solutions to accommodate different interests.
- Experience in reviewing legal documents and/or technical studies will be a plus.
Qualifications
• MBA or equivalent Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
