Overview
The consultant will assist in the implementation of projects, focusing on strategic partnerships and pipeline development within the United Nations Human Settlements Programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep the HUB Coordinator informed and obtain validation of activities in the full project cycle.
- Identify project opportunities, establish communication with counterparts, and prepare MOUs.
- Prepare technical and financial proposals, implementation plans, and budgets.
- Mobilise resources, including negotiations and agreements with financing counterparts.
- Prepare contribution agreements for signature.
- Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of concept notes, project documents, and other necessary documentation for internal project approval.
- Plan and participate in internal approval meetings, presenting required documents.
- Make necessary adjustments for project approval.
- Prepare work plans and obtain validation from the counterpart.
- Carry out technical, administrative, and management activities to ensure projects meet objectives.
- Anticipate and mitigate project risks.
- Generate, coordinate, and manage technical, administrative, and operational inputs within the UMOJA system.
- Participate in the recruitment of consultants and service providers, preparing terms of reference and validating selection minutes.
- Prepare project completion and closure documents.
- Provide information for the systematisation and exchange of successful practices and experiences.
- Prepare supporting documentation for project budget management and monitor the UMOJA system.
- Ensure technical activities align with quality expectations.
- Ensure optimal and timely delivery of project-related products and take actions in UMOJA.
- Maintain an orderly and accessible information archive.
- Prepare reports and progress reports, including financial reports issued by the regional PMO.
- Support Level 4 in recruitment processes and team formation.
- Participate in inter-agency groups, project meetings, official missions, and events.
- Provide input for monitoring technical and operational activities of UN-Habitat HUB projects.
- Provide input for drafting project completion and closure documents.
- Facilitate means and information for systematisation and exchange of successful practices.
- Be available for travel related to services outlined in the terms of reference.
- Participate in working and follow-up meetings.
Required Experience
A minimum of Five (5) years of experience in areas and/or institutions related to project management, project cycle management, management of inter-institutional issues and/or generation of partnerships is required. Within the experience, more than one (1) year of experience with international cooperation agencies and/or the United Nations System in urban issues must be reported.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in public policy, economics, political science or social sciences, human rights and /or international relations or related fields is required. A first-level university degree in combination with five (5) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
