Overview

The Junior Communications Assistant will provide support to the administrative and finance team and other tasks for the proper functioning of the Andean Countries HUB.


Key Responsibilities
  • Keep the HUB Coordinator informed and obtain validation of activities.
  • Implement the social media content calendar aligned with UN-Habitat's communication strategy.
  • Develop products for various formats to disseminate activities and results.
  • Create engaging social media posts (text, images, and videos).
  • Monitor social media channels for engagement, comments, and mentions, responding appropriately.
  • Analyze social media performance metrics and provide recommendations.
  • Support the development of communication materials.
  • Contribute to the creation of visual content.
  • Assist in the organization of media events and press conferences.
  • Assist in the articulation between partners to broaden the scope of social media campaigns.
  • Design and elaborate massive mailing campaigns and analyze its metrics.
  • Support the elaboration of capacity strengthening presentations/workshops for communication skills.
  • Support in the completion of journalistic reports on online and offline platforms.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
  • Participate in work and follow-up meetings.
  • Ensure all activities comply with the principles of United Nations integrity.
Required Experience
  • A Minimum six (6) months to one (1) year of experience in areas related to project management, supporting communication strategies implementation in development, humanitarian, or urban-related contexts is required.
  • Experience within the United Nations System is desirable.
  • Experience using standard office software such as MS Office or equivalent and digital tools is required.
  • Knowledge on editing tools such as Canva Pro, Adobe suite (Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects), CapCut is required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Communication, Journalism, Publicity or a related field is desirable.

English and Spanish is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another UN Official Language is desirable.
