Overview
The Information Management (IM) Intern will support the Global Shelter, Land and Site Coordination (SLSC) Cluster by assisting with the development of digital tools, data management, and analysis to improve coordination and support field operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the roll-out and maintenance of digital platforms for data collection, site monitoring, and reporting.
- Support the adaptation of software tools and scripts using conventional programming techniques and Microsoft services.
- Support the implementation of machine learning or AI methods to enhance data analysis.
- Compile, aggregate, and validate data from multiple sources to produce standardized information products.
- Provide technical support and capacity building to Cluster partners on information management tools.
- Ensure the application of organizational data standards and protection protocols.
- Participate in Cluster initiatives, contributing expertise on information management and digital tools.
- Contribute to the development of situational modelling or analytical tools.
- Assist in the preparation of brief summary reports documenting lessons learned.
Required Experience
- Less than two years of relevant working experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing and transforming datasets, including data cleaning, pre-processing, verification, and structured data management.
- Experience designing or supporting field-level data collection and analysis workflows in humanitarian or operational environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 advanced capabilities, including building automated workflows in Power Automate, designing data-entry or monitoring applications in Power Apps, and optimizing data pipelines in SharePoint and OneDrive.
- Ability to enhance IM processes through workflow automation, data validation frameworks, permissions management, and environment optimization within the 365 suite.
- Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) and dashboard development.
- Exposure to AI or ML tools (Azure AI, AI Builder) is an advantage.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or University degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Geographic Information System, Data Science, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
- Either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months.
