Overview
The Communications Analyst will support the design and implementation of integrated communications and advocacy efforts to enhance visibility, strengthen strategic positioning, and support partnerships and resource mobilization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation and review of the Country Office (CO) communications strategy.
- Serve as strategic communication adviser to senior management.
- Lead crisis communication and reputational risk management.
- Identify strategic communication opportunities.
- Conduct media and stakeholder analysis.
- Develop and disseminate high-quality communication and advocacy products.
- Promote media coverage of UNDP’s priority initiatives.
- Manage media relations and maintain a network of journalists and partners.
- Organize and support public events, campaigns and high-level engagements.
- Ensure consistent messaging that highlights UNDP’s impact, partnerships and value proposition.
- Lead the implementation of the CO’s digital communications strategy.
- Manage website content.
- Oversee development of video stories and interview based products.
- Monitor analytics and performance of digital content.
- Maintain digital assets.
- Lead the development and implementation of the CO publications strategy.
- Coordinate the design, preparation, editing, translation and dissemination of publications, reports and communication materials.
- Identify and develop compelling storylines.
- Lead the production of donor visibility materials.
- Lead communication efforts that strengthen partnerships.
- Contribute to positioning UNDP as a partner of choice.
- Collaborate with programme teams to package and communicate results.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement and dialogue.
- Capture, synthesize and disseminate best practices, success stories and lessons learned.
- Liaise with Regional and HQ Communications units.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing platforms and repositories.
- Provide guidance and training to CO staff and project teams on communications tools.
- Ensure effective internal and external communication and knowledge sharing.
- Lead planning, coordination and implementation of communications workplan.
- Provide functional leadership to the communications team.
- Prepare Terms of Reference and support procurement processes related to communication services and products.
- Manage vendors and service providers.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years (with master’s degree) or 7 years (with bachelor’s degree) of progressively responsible relevant experience at the national or international level in public relations, advocacy, or communications is required.
- Experience in the use of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
- Advanced knowledge of web-based management systems such as ERP.
- Experience in content management systems, social media and graphic design.
- Knowledge and experience in handling of web-based management systems.
- Previous experience working in a multilateral or international organization.
- Proficiency in the use of content management systems, HTML coding, photo editing tools and other web publishing tools.
- Additional years of experience in communications, outreach, public relations or advocacy is required.
- Experience in strategic implementation of online and other tools.
- Experience in coordinating and managing outreach activities and content.
- Experience in marketing activities for international organizations with multi-regional presence.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Communication, Journalism, International Relations, Public Administration, or related field, or
- A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
