Overview
Project Manager to support the implementation of the Mayors Challenge in the City of Kanifing, Gambia. The role focuses on a youth-led waste collection program aimed at improving sanitation and creating jobs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project implementation in the municipality of Kanifing, including strategic planning, decision-making, and execution.
- Oversee procurement processes and supervise service providers.
- Coordinate project staff and create local capacities.
- Track project progress, document updates, and present results.
- Share lessons learned at a global level through webinars and knowledge products.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with stakeholders.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 7 years professional experience with a master’s degree, or 9 years with a bachelor’s degree, in international development, communications, or political and social issues.
- At least one year of experience working with urban-related issues.
- Demonstrated competence in leadership and project management.
- Competence in computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
- Proven experience in working with local governments and their associations is an asset.
- Experience working on municipal taxation is an asset.
- Experience working on projects related to waste collection, community generated livelihoods, circular economy or local climate action initiatives will be an asset.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Business Administration or Business Management is required.
- A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas stated above, in combination with additional 2 years of qualifying experience, will be given due consideration in lieu of Master´s degree.
- Prince2 Practitioner certificate is an advantage.
