Overview

The Project Support Officer will support the implementation of activities within the Transnational Organized Crime, Illicit Trafficking, and Terrorism Programmes in Eastern Africa. The role involves administrative and logistical arrangements for events and general administrative tasks related to project outputs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support implementation of activities, including administrative and logistical arrangements for workshops, meetings, conferences, and expert missions.
  • Perform general administrative tasks and prepare and process administrative documents.
  • Monitor processes related to project outputs, activities, and tasks.
  • Maintain calendars/schedules, monitor changes, communicate relevant information appropriately, and maintain hard and soft copy files and databases.
  • Follow up procurement processes with the procurement department and provide regular updates.
  • Support implementation of infrastructure development, asset management, and digitization process.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
  • Strengthen knowledge and understanding of volunteerism.
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism.
  • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action.
  • Contribute articles and write-ups on field experiences.
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme.
  • Promote or advise local groups on the use of online volunteering.
Required Experience
  • At least seven (7) years of professional work experience in the planning and implementation of project activities is required.
  • Experience in providing administrative support in programmes is required.
  • Experience in working with technical teams and national counterparts in the government is desirable.
  • Good oral and writing skills in drafting, formulation, and reporting are desirable.
  • Excellent command of the Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is desirable.
  • Experience in drafting project documents, including Terms of Reference (TORs), is desirable.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision and meet tight deadlines is desirable.
  • Strong computer skills and good knowledge of relevant software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others) are desirable.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in project management, criminal justice, criminology, public administration, or any other related field of study.

Remuneration
A UN Volunteer receives a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) per month and is paid at the end of each month to cover housing, utilities, transportation, communications, and other basic needs. UN Volunteers are provided a settling-in-grant (SIG) at the start of the assignment and also in the event of a permanent reassignment. UNV provides life, health, and permanent disability insurances as well as assignment travel, annual leave, and full integration in the UN security framework (including residential security reimbursements). UN Volunteers are paid a Daily Subsistence Allowance at the UN rate for official travels, flight tickets for the final repatriation travel (if applicable). A resettlement allowance is paid for satisfactory service at the end of the assignment.
