Overview

The Statistics Intern will gain hands-on experience in statistical capacity-building initiatives, contributing to research and the development of implementation guidance for the Global Disaster-Related Statistics Framework (G-DRSF). The role involves enhancing visualizations of disaster-related statistics and supporting the framework's implementation.


Key Responsibilities
  • Enhancing Power BI–based visualizations of disaster-related statistics based on specific needs identified by the Thai NSO;
  • Supporting the implementation of the G-DRSF in the national context of Thailand;
  • Conducting research and contributing to the drafting of selected guidance notes to support G-DRSF implementation;
  • Exploring fundraising opportunities to advance the operationalization of the G-DRSF, including drafting concept notes and project proposals;
  • Performing other related work as required.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications
  • be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
  • be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
Contract Duration
3 months with an opportunity for an extension of up to six months.

Remuneration
The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
