Overview
The intern will support statistical data compilation and analysis, economic data management and harmonization, and research assistance for policy-oriented analytical work within the African Centre for Statistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the work in economic, social, demographic, spatial, environmental and other related areas as required.
- Conduct literature reviews on statistical frameworks, indicators, case studies and country practices.
- Contribute to drafting background research papers, presentations, blogs and technical documents.
- Support the organization and servicing of meetings and events.
- Provide support to capacity-building activities for countries in the African region.
- Support communication activities related to the work of the section.
- Perform any other duties as requested.
Required Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
Qualifications
- 1) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); OR be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); OR have graduated with a university degree and commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
- 2) Be computer literate in standard software applications.
- 3) Have a demonstrated and keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- 4) Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
