Overview
The Movement Control Assistant is responsible for providing movement control services in support of field mission activities, including the planning, coordination, and execution of passenger and cargo movements.
Key Responsibilities
- Receives customer requests for transportation of passengers and cargo.
- Assists in planning and scheduling the movement of passengers and cargo.
- Coordinates transportation activities with relevant units and service providers.
- Liaises with other organizations on immigration and customs matters.
- Records statistical data on the movement of passengers and cargo.
- Supervises the activities of the Cargo Warehouse.
- Maintains electronic databases and monitors reference documents.
- Participates in the development of standard operating procedures and budget proposals.
- Assists in the coordination of inbound activities for freight into the mission area.
Required Experience
- A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in movement control, multi-modal transportation, airline operations, logistics management or a related field is required.
- Experience in the use of IATA and/or IMO rules and procedures for the transportation of dangerous goods is required.
- Experience in at least (2) two modes of transport (air, sea, road, and rail) including the planning, coordination and executing of large-scale personnel and/or cargo movement operations at the international level is required.
- Experience in customs clearance and inbound coordination of shipments is required.
- Experience in international operations in a post conflict environment is desirable.
- Experience in sourcing, cleaning and preparing data, selection and developing visualization/metrics in transportation, procurement, and/or supply chain management that enable easy communication/interpretation by the users is desirable.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Certification in Dangerous Goods transportation in accordance with the rules and regulations of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and/or the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and/or International Maritime Organization (IMO) is required.
