Overview

The Security Guard ensures the physical environment of the CSO is secured at all times, in accordance with NATO security policies and local CSO directives. The role involves surveillance, security checks, visitor management, and handling incoming calls and mail.


Key Responsibilities
  • Working with other guards following the monthly planning.
  • Being responsible for the continuous surveillance of the CSO grounds, buildings and approaches from the street.
  • Conducting security checks at various hours to ensure that all classified material is properly secured and to verify that all safes are locked.
  • Maintaining and issuing visitor security badges. Inspecting the contents of visitors' briefcases and carrying bags as necessary. Promptly notifying the appropriate staff member of a visitor's arrival. Ensuring that visitors are escorted throughout the duration of their visit.
  • Escorts contractors’ personnel on the CSO premises as necessary.
  • Conducting spot-check searches on entering staff and visitor vehicles. As required, directing incoming and outgoing vehicle traffic to ensure safe passage from and to the street area.
  • Receiving all incoming telephone calls when the desired CSO extension is not answered. When possible, transferring the calls to another party or forwarding an appropriate message.
  • Receiving all incoming letters and packages, and ensuring that they are promptly claimed internally. Follow security procedures for classified and registered mail as instructed by the Chief Security Guard.
  • Performing other functions as directed by the CSO Security Officer or the Chief Security.
Required Experience
  • Must have 3-year experience in physical security functions.
  • Must be prepared to respond to local security incidents and emergency situations.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the operation of alarm and communication systems.
  • Previous service with a security/safety/defense organization.
  • Having knowledge of NATO security regulations and practices (desirable).
  • Established relationship with the local law enforcement officials (desirable).
Qualifications
  • Training in security and safety regulations and practices.
  • Training in security policies and practices.
  • Basic knowledge in office word processing, spreadsheet and messaging software.
  • Good knowledge of MS office software suite (desirable).

• Very good knowledge of French (SLP: 4444) • Fair knowledge in English (SLP: 2222)
Languages Preferred
• Good knowledge of English (3333)
Contract Duration
• Definite duration contract of six months. Upon conditions, a follow-up definite contract of six months shall be offered.

Remuneration
• Starting basic monthly salary will be Euro 4,160.49, subject to taxation. • Specific allowances may apply, depending on personal circumstances of the incumbent. • 30 days annual leave, life and medical insurance, a retirement pension plan, allowance for dependent children if eligible.
