Overview

Supports the IRC Youth Program by assisting in the delivery of academic, social-emotional, and enrichment services for refugee and immigrant youth through mentorships, tutoring, and field trips.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the facilitation of virtual tutoring and mentoring sessions via Zoom.
  • Support outreach, scheduling, and communication with youth participants and volunteer mentors/tutors.
  • Monitor virtual sessions to ensure a safe and respectful environment.
  • Help develop and share educational resources, activities, and content.
  • Track attendance and assist with basic data entry and documentation for program evaluation.
  • Collaborate to identify and respond to the needs of youth participants.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to organizational policies regarding youth safety and conduct.
Required Experience
  • Prior experience and/or interest working with refugees and immigrants preferred.
  • Prior experience and/or interest in case management, social work or education preferred.
Qualifications

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Zoom and Canva).

Fluency in English required.
Languages Preferred
Bilingual ability in one of the predominant languages of the local client base is desired.

Remuneration
Internships with the IRC in Baltimore are unpaid. University credit may be arranged. Summer 2026 interns are eligible for per diem reimbursement at the rate of $15 per day (defined as 7.5 hours) to offset the costs of food and travel of the internship. Interns may also be reimbursed for mileage driven for any approved activities (based on round-trip mileage from the IRC office).
