Overview
The Senior Programme Management Officer will lead the formulation and implementation of the Branch's substantive work programme, focusing on economic and fiscal policy for environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop UNEP's analytical, outreach, and advocacy efforts on economic and fiscal policy.
- Spearhead economic policy analysis and recommendations aligned with climate, nature, and pollution outcomes.
- Lead UNEP's work on public finance and fiscal policy, including outreach to financial institutions.
- Oversee programmatic and administrative tasks, including budget preparation and staff performance evaluation.
- Advise senior management on strategies and policies related to substantive work programmes.
- Lead team members in data collection and analysis to identify trends for planning and decision-making.
Required Experience
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible professional work experience involving environmental/resource economics, fiscal and economic policy, and/or macroeconomics policy analysis.
- Five (5) years of experience should be at the international level.
- Experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder groups to meet a common objective in the economics and/or public finance and fiscal policy space is required.
- Experience in managing a team of more than 10 people simultaneously is desirable.
- Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
- Publications in the field of environmental economics and fiscal and economic policy is desirable.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master's or Doctorate degree, or equivalent) in economics, environmental economics or international economics or a related field is required.
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) with two (2) additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
