Overview

The Interpreter/Translator will provide specialized translation expertise, facilitating communication between English and Arabic within the UNODC Programme Office team and relevant technical units.


Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret from Arabic into English and vice versa during meetings and events, including training workshops conducted with the governmental counterparts.
  • Written translation as required.
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience
  • At least 3 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in complex technical translation and interpretation.
  • Experience in complex technical translation and interpretation in areas related to UNODC’s mandate is an asset.
  • Experience working in the UN or other international development organizations is an asset.
  • Technical knowledge in the anti-narcotics field is an asset.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in area of development, criminal justice, humanitarian, or translation and interpretation

Remuneration
• Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) at the amount of USD 1724.16. • Danger and hardship differential: USD 517.24 • Entry lump sum (one time): USD 350 • Exit allowance (paid on successful completion of the assignment): $120 for each month served, paid on completion of contract • Annual and learning leaves • Medical and life Insurance
