Overview
The consultant will be responsible for creating figures and tables to convey key messages from an assessment summary and its chapters.
Key Responsibilities
- A maximum of 15 figures or tables conveying key messages, concepts, and knowledge presented in the summary for policymakers of the assessment.
- A maximum of 15 figures or tables conveying the key messages, concepts, and knowledge presented in the chapters of the assessment.
- Other tasks as required.
Required Experience
- 2 years experience in data visualization, preferably related to environmental science, biology or a related field are required;
- Excellent knowledge of IPBES, biodiversity and environment-related matters is required;
- Excellent knowledge of IPBES stakeholders and their information needs is required;
- Demonstrated experience working with global or national assessment processes such as those of IPBES and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is required;
- Demonstrated experience visualizing data and communicating complex information to a variety of audiences is required;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop figures in English are required;
- Good organizational and personal management skills, with ability to prioritize work issues to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and adjust to changing situations while maintaining focus on delivery and follow-through are required.
Qualifications
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in environmental science, biology or ecology, data science, information technology, graphic design or a related field, with understanding of methods and technologies to biodiversity monitoring is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
