Overview

The internship will assist the Science, Technology and Innovation for Development Section in conducting analysis, contributing to technical assistance projects, and servicing meetings.


Key Responsibilities
  • Participation in meetings (online or in person) with the supervisor and team.
  • Assisting in the organization and servicing of the 2026-2027 intersessional Panel of the CSTD, and the meetings of the Working Group on Data Governance.
  • Providing substantive support for the preparation of documents (e.g. presentations and summary) required for the meetings.
  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative background research, such as compiling data and information on technology and innovation trends related to sustainable development and preparing charts or graphs.
  • Supporting other activities of the section, as required.
Required Experience

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Should be computer literate in standard software applications;
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Remuneration
The Internship Programme is unpaid and full-time, i.e., an intern is expected to work five days per week (40 hours). All costs of travel, accommodation, medical insurance and living expenses must be covered by the intern.
