Overview

The Junior Graphic Designer will support the local communications team and core team at UN-Habitat Brazil, ensuring good execution of the work program for sustainable and inclusive urban prosperity.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the elaboration of visual identities for initiatives, projects, campaigns, and events.
  • Design and layout publications, reports, catalogues, and other editorial products.
  • Create graphic materials for digital platforms, including social media cards, short videos, animations, and infographics.
  • Support short video production and editing, including subtitling and simple motion graphics.
  • Design informative communication products such as booklets, brochures, banners, backgrounders, and other printed or digital materials.
  • Develop promotional materials (e.g., posters, photo panels, PowerPoint templates, business cards, labels, and t-shirts).
  • Support photo editing and image optimization for web stories and other digital content.
  • Contribute to illustration, layout and vectorization tasks for internal and external materials.
  • Maintain an organized archive of all multimedia and design files.
  • Ensure all design outputs are consistent with UN-Habitat’s corporate identity and visual standards.
  • Assist in the visual adaptation of communication materials for different audiences and platforms.
  • Support the production of visual content for campaigns, events, and advocacy initiatives.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for campaigns and communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with the communications team in preparing visuals for media kits, press releases, and newsletters.
  • Ensure compliance with HQ and Regional Office guidelines for branding, written and design materials.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
  • Complete all courses and training activities indicated by the supervisor, including the BSAFE security course.
Required Experience
  • At least three (3) years of progressively responsible graphic design experience in Brazil is required.
  • Previous on-site experience in communications in Alagoas is desirable.
  • Previous experience with graphic design in development and/or non-profit projects is desirable.
  • Experience in producing content for social media is desirable.
  • Familiarity with and interest in urban issues and urban global agenda of the Organization is desirable.
  • Previous experience within the UN System or any other international agency is desirable.
Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field is required, or additional three (3) years of relevant technical experience to the post, beyond the requirement.

• Fluency in Portuguese is required.

• Working knowledge of Spanish and/or English is desirable.
