Overview

The Project Support Officer will provide substantive technical, analytical, and programme support to the Global Maritime Crime Programme (GMCP) and perform various duties to combat maritime crime.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide substantive support to the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programme activities.
  • Contribute to the identification and analysis of technical assistance and capacity-building needs.
  • Provide technical and programme support to project planning and management processes.
  • Conduct research and analysis on illicit trafficking and maritime crime trends.
  • Contribute substantive inputs to policy coordination, monitoring, and evaluation functions.
  • Draft and review substantive written outputs.
  • Provide substantive and organizational support to consultative meetings, workshops, training events, conferences and other programme activities.
  • Provide technical and programme support to administrative, procurement and financial processes.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets, workplans and expenditure tracking.
  • Support and, as required, participate in field missions.
  • Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of project documentation.
  • Facilitate coordination with national counterparts, partner institutions, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Perform other related professional duties.
Required Experience
  • 7 years of experience at the national and/or international level, in social work, programme management/support, maritime security, criminal justice, or related fields is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of programme activities.
  • Experience in coordinating capacity-building activities and working with national and regional stakeholders in the areas of maritime crime, criminal justice, or security-related programmes is desirable.
  • Experience within UNODC Border Management Branch (BMB), particularly in maritime crime-related programmes, is required.
  • Proven experience in drafting high-quality reports, briefing notes, and communication materials in line with UN or donor requirements.
  • Solid computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data management tools.
  • Sound understanding of UNODC’s mandate, particularly in maritime crime, border management, and strengthening criminal justice systems.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in social sciences, Development and/or Security, international relations, law, criminology, security studies, or a related field is required.

Remuneration
Volunteer Living Allowance (around USD 3975.92/Month) Entry Lump-Sum = USD 3500 (one-time payment) Exit Lump-Sum upon completion of contract. Medical and life Insurance premium/Cigna (100%) and dependents policy.
