Overview
Internship opportunity within the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management, providing procedural and technical support to intergovernmental meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the preparation of procedural notes for intergovernmental meetings, and other preparatory tasks;
- Attending and summarizing intergovernmental meetings;
- Assisting with logistics during meetings, including interactive presentations, virtual connections and assisting with the list of speakers;
- Undertaking historical research and examination of procedural precedents;
- Undertaking media-based analysis and research;
- Compiling statistics, as well as design and tabulation of charts, tables, and graphs;
- Maintaining databases of meetings based on requests and actual conduct of meetings and assists with the collection and analysis of data;
- Contributing to the drafting/preparation of notes, talking points, and other papers and briefing materials;
- Updating/redesigning websites and links;
- Performing other tasks as necessary.
Required Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. However, your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Qualifications
- Applicants must at the beginning of the internship (a) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); OR b) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree, equivalent or higher); OR (c) have completed university studies within the last year (after 14 September 2025).
- Be computer literate in standard software applications, especially in Microsoft 365 Products and Google Docs Editors.
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter.
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
