Overview

The Assistant Gender Affairs Officer will assist the Gender Advisory Team in implementing a mission-wide action plan and support the advancement of Libyan women.


Key Responsibilities
  • - Assists the Gender Advisory Team with implementing a mission-wide action plan, as appropriate;
  • - Assist in the delivery of appropriate training for different level of personnel where required;
  • - Assist with the preparation and submission of timely reporting and documentation on gender, including quarterly report; and weekly reports;
  • - Support and document the collection of good practices and lessons learned on gender equality;
  • - Assist in the development of talking points, speeches and other written materials on gender equality and the advancement of Libyan Women;
  • - Collect and independently analyze information pertaining to gender equality and the advancement of Libyan women in the economic, social, security, human rights and political fields from a variety of sources including reports by media, government, national and international organizations;
  • - Preparing and/or reviewing documents and revising as required;
  • - Perform other related duties as required.
Required Experience

A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in policy development and/or program implementation related to gender equality, child-rights, or women's rights is required. Previous or current experience in working with and supporting women’s groups in political dialogues and mediation efforts is mandatory. Knowledge of international framework on gender equality and women’s rights including knowledge on UNSCR 1325 and the Women, Peace and Security agenda, Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the international legal framework related to gender is desirable. Relevant experience working in the United Nations Common System and/or other national/international organizations on gender mainstreaming, analysis, and promoting gender equality is desirable.

Qualifications

A recognized first-level university degree in sociology, humanities, law, economics, political or social sciences or a related field is required.
