Overview

The Programme Specialist (Climate Action and Nutrition) provides strategic leadership and technical oversight for integrating climate resilient actions into nutrition, WASH and health programming within UNICEF Bhutan’s country programme. The role advances integrated, climate-resilient and nutrition-responsive systems aligned with national priorities.

  • Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results
  • Technical Leadership and Systems Strengthening
  • Networking, effective partnership building and working relationships
  • Innovation, evidence generation, knowledge management and capacity building
  • Resource mobilization and financing
  • Emergency preparedness and response
  • Provides technical guidance and management support across the full programme cycle, including design, planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, data analysis, coordination, resource mobilization and capacity building, while strengthening partnerships with government, academia, UN agencies and development partners.
Required Experience

At least 5 years relevant professional experience in development, with focus on climate action, food systems and nutrition, natural resource management, energy and environment, or related fields. Experience in programme and/or project design and implementation, with exposure to NDCs, National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), or other national climate policy processes (renewable energy experience is an asset).

Qualifications

Advanced University Degree (Master or equivalent) in climate change, environmental science or environmental health, agricultural economics, natural resource management, food systems, nutrition, or a related field.

Fluency in English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
Contract Duration
Temporary appointment (TA) position for a duration of one year. Subject to funding availability, organizational structure, and continued programmatic need, the duration of the post may be extended for an additional year.
